Smitten® Stewed Apples with Oatmeal Crumble
INGREDIENTS
- Smitten® Stewed Apples
- 7 Smitten® Apples, peeled and roughly diced
- 1 tbsp cinnamon
- 1 tsp nutmeg
- 2 tbsp honey
- 1/4 cup water
- Juice from half lemon
- Pinch salt
- Oatmeal Crumble
- 3/4 cup wholemeal spelt flour
- 1 cup oats
- 1/4 cup sunflower seeds
- 1 cup coconut sugar
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp cardamom
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, diced
- 1 tbsp olive oil
METHOD
Smitten® Stewed Apples
- Place all ingredients in a saucepan and cook on low heat till it comes it comes to a simmer
- Reduce heat and cook for approx. 15 minutes. If you prefer your apples to be a bit softer, cook them for a bit longer
Oatmeal Crumble
- Place all ingredients in a bowl and combine with fingers to form a crumble like texture
To Finish
- To finish the dish, place the stewed apples in an oven safe dish and top with the oatmeal crumble, cook in a moderate oven (180 degrees Celsius) for 15-20 minutes
- Serve with creamy vanilla ice cream
