We are fathers, mothers, sons, sisters, cousins and friends - the Montague family is just like you.
Inspired by the dedication of our Founder William (Bill) Montague, we are a three generation family company driven by a lifetime of passion and integrity.
William (Bill) Montague OAM
A respected founder, Bill Montague started helping his father with fruit through his primary school years before starting his own company in 1948 at 22 years old.
Having been awarded the Order of Australia Medal (OAM) for his services to the Fruit Industry and passing on his knowledge to his sons and family, Bill now spends his days cheering on Collingwood, playing cards and fishing along the Victorian coastline.
The eldest son of Bill and Stella Montague and father to Hamish and Sophie, Frank helped build the family business from an early age, delivering product to clients on time in Beechworth and Shepparton. Sadly, Frank passed away in 1993 but, will be remembered for his passion for life and unwavering commitment.
Growing up on the Narre Warren North farm with his father Bill, Greg was a dedicated horticulturalist who quickly established himself in the Cold Storage side of the business that became on of Australia’s largest third-party refrigerated warehousing companies. A father to Crystal and Andrew, Greg tragically passed away in 2008 leaving a legacy of generosity and passion behind.
The youngest son of Bill and Stella, father to three sons, Scott, Tim and Jarryd, Ray Montague is a family man at heart. With shared passions for Collingwood and fishing like his father, Ray is a natural businessman with traditional values and integrity. Ray grew the Montague Fresh side of the business to become Australia’s largest supplier of pome and stonefruits.
General Manager Montague Queensland
Son of Frank Montague, Hamish started with the business fresh out of high school managing the Melbourne Montague Wholesale Stand before exploring various positions across distribution, the pack house, sales and cold storage. With a wealth of experience, Hamish moved to Brisbane in 2006 to run the Montague QLD market floor, expanding it into a major warehousing and consumer packing business.
Son of Ray Montague, Scott has been working in the family company for 18 years learning the ins and outs of orchard practices, packing, distribution, sales and trading, marketing and export of pome fruits across Australia. General Manager of Retail, Scott Montague understands the importance of positive working relationships to meet consumer needs and demands.
General Manager Orchards
Son of Ray Montague, Tim dived straight into the cold storage side of the business after high school before developing an interest in following his father’s footsteps into the Orchards side of Montague. Now, as the General Manager of Orchards, Tim focuses his energy on effective resources to achieve the world’s best practices.
The youngest son of Ray Montague, Jarryd was a committed and passionate employee who worked internationally and interstate to develop and identify best practices for Montague across stonefruit, sales, packing and distribution. Sadly, Jarryd passed away in 2013 but is honoured with the Jarryd Montague Award which recognises individuals making an outstanding contribution to the company through professionalism, commitment and dedication.
