Smitten® Apple Galette
INGREDIENTS
- 1 sheet puff pastry
- 3-4 Smitten® apples
- 3 tbsp brown sugar
- 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1 tbsp corn flour
- 20 grams unsalted butter, melted
- Vanilla ice cream, to serve
METHOD
- Preheat oven to 180 degrees Celsius (fan-forced) and line a tray with baking paper
- In a small bowl mix sugar, cinnamon, and cornflour
- Cut apple around the core (this will give you flat pieces which are easier to slice) Slice into thin pieces
- Place thawed puff pastry over tray. Sprinkle the sugar mix. leaving some space around the edges
- Top with apple slices. Arrange them so they are overlapping because they shrink in the oven. Leave some space around the edges
- Fold the sides of pastry over the apples. Pinch around the edges to ensure they are secure
- Brush with melted butter and sprinkle more of the sugar mix. Bake for 30 minutes until puff pastry is golden and apples are tender
- Let it rest for 10 minutes before slicing. Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
