Named after the Montague family matriarch, Stella’s Kitchen offers an enchanting dining experience at our beautiful Narre Warren North orchard, only a short drive from the CBD.

The Little Orchard is gorgeously situated opposite Stella’s Kitchen and grows abundant with apples, pears, plums, apricots, peaches and nectarines. We are delighted to offer exciting and educational Orchard Tours that will inspire you to plant your own fruit trees.
Did you know all Montague apples are hand-picked? Our Pick-Your-Own tours invite you to our lush orchard, where you'll be guided on seasonality, how to properly pick fruit and the differences in our varieties.

With the ability to process over 300 million pieces of fruit a year, you’ll learn about the modern technology and passionate minds that power our production. From where fruit is delivered straight from the orchard, to quality checking, to packing, to distribution to your local supermarket. After this fascinating tour, you'll have a whole new appreciation for fresh fruit!

This National STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering Maths) Day, let’s take a quick look at how fruit is checked for quality before its packed for supermarket shelves. After a preliminary quality inspection, fruit will then go through tech-operated quality sorters and then pass 3 different quality steps in the packing facility:
Step 1: Fruit is inspected for imperfections.
Step 2: Using a penetrometer, our team of quality experts will check the pressure of the fruit, ensuring it has optimal firmness and texture.
Step 3: Fruit will undergo Brix checks. Using a refractometer, the quality team will measure the total dissolved sugar content - the Brix - to ensure fruit is of the highest quality nature can grow.
Once fruit meets all major quality checks, it’s good to be packed for supermarket shelves and for you 🍎🍑
